I finally got around to finishing Arrested Developments Season5 with the later half tje season coming out in the fall of 2019. I have to say I wonder if they will do more but for me if they stop here the show still holds itself high despite this season being both one of the worst but also a joyful return to the old way rather than Season fours here there an everywhere take on delivering crazy adventures of the Bluth family.
The return of fan favourites such as Gob, Oscar, Tobias and George Michael continue on their random stories and are what make this season shine. However the season doesnt seem to flow as well as previous seasons did which is a real shame. The ed of the season does leave it open for a possible sixth season but I hope they dont and leave it there now.
Highlight of the season for me was Gob’s magic show with returning favourite Tony Wonder (Ben stiller). I would recomend watching this is youve seen the rest but if you are new to the series do not start here start at the very beginning.
Amazing! Season 3 already confirmed. Right before we even start, there will be spoilers below so if you are yet to finish, watch or are avoiding spoilers please stop! Right here..
You season 2
Okay, so where to start. At the end of season one we saw the tragic apparent death of Guinevere Beck, Joe Goldbergs love interest for the season. We also saw the shock return of the assumed dead/ travelling Europe ex girlfriend Candace.
Well season two kicks off right where we left Joe standing stunned in Mooney’s bookshop. His face says it all he cant believe it. Then all of a sudden were in L.A. The first episode i found paced nicely skipping between then and now to show how Joe made it to Los Angeles and ditched the now alive Candace who is nowmaking it her mission to destroy Joe.
Los Angeles Joe describes, is his least favourite place on the planet. Yet here he is and despite having to look over his shoulder, hes made some changes. Say hello Will Bettlehiem, Joe’s new alias. We later find out Will Bettlehiem is not only a real person that Joe has come into contact with. He is also the person in Joe’s latest glassbox jail. Old habits die hard. The infamous glass box is now inside a soundproof storage locker facility where Joe is now using it to store certain items to avoid another Beck incident.
Joe goes about saying he is now a changed person, avoiding his urges and the rest of it. The Beck and Candace stuff seems to be irking him more than he thought until…Love.
Love, not the emotion but a person named Love catches his eye. “Hello YOU…” The iconic line seeps out and before he knows it Joe is back head over heels for a new woman. Goodbye Beck!
Now Love who is played by the brilliantly beautiful Victoria Pedretti (Haunting of Hill House/ Once upon a time in Hollywood) is just amazing.
Victoria Pedretti as Love
So Love, turns out to be the manager of the kitchen at Joe’s new workplace. Coincidence? What do you think? Hes a changed man and is resisting the urge-. He fails. Love has him and Joe resumes his old ways just now as Will. Love brings Joe into her life, meets her family and all looks to be going well. Until, Forty (James Scully) another brilliant character in his own right brings home a new girlfriend to his and Love’s parents anniversary celebration. Guess who? Yep! Candace.
Candace (Ambyr Childers)
Now for me, this scene is one of this seasons highlights. Joe now comfortable as the fun and friendly Will Bettlehiem watches as Forty’s new girlfriend appears and his face behind the mask he struggles to keep is just brillaint. Candace now posing as Amy plays the act of Forty’s girlfriend perfectly. Why? To protect Love and her family from Joe. Now this for those of you who have seen the season know it doesnt play out that way. Candace gets caught out by Love who sees through the false profile and hires a private investigator to protect her families assets. She confronts Candace whom comes clean and spills all about her perfect man Will being actually Joe a killer with a love complex for the theatrics. She tells Love how she was buried alive by Joe and begs that she be believed.
Joe unaware returns, is forced to come clean and finds Love has sent Candace away with money and threats that her family can bestow. So perfect right? Wriong Love cant trust Will now Joe. Confused? Joe is now free to be Joe Goldberg once more but.. without Love.
The following few episodes see Joe adjust to life without Love as his girlfriend and become closer with two other characters new to season 2. Delilah and Ellie (Carmela Zumbado and Jenna Ortega) are both amazing personalities in this season. Delilah, Ellie’s sister runs the apartment complex that Joe rents into at the beginning of the season. Joe or Will to them gets tangled up in a series of events alongside the Love story with Love where he helps take down a celebrity who Delilah was raped by years before and the ssame celebrity is now looking to do to a very charasmatic Ellie. Not on Joe’s watch.
Through events and a lot of sneaking, breaking and entering and drugs Joe gets the better of the celebrity but in a typical Joe way he lets his emotions run wild and a struggle ensues resulting in the celebrities death.
Fastforwarding to the point where Joe is without Love, he becames close with Delilah which looks like the start of yet another relationship. An honest one.
Ellie (left) and Delilah (right)
Events transpire that occur from decisions made earlier in the season from the celebrities murder, the lies to Love and Forty. Delilah goes snooping into Joe’s apartment and finds his storage locker keys. She then arrives at said destination to find the box and several items that place Joe at the clebrities murder and the like. Joe finds Delilah in his storage unit and yep locks her in the box. Now hes in a pickle as he likes Delilah. Not as much as Love but he doesnt want to hurt her or her sister Ellie. He needs to think. He needs to flee.
The final episodes of this season are the best the series has offered thus far. They are filled with so many plot twists and revelations that ive had to watch this season a few times just to get my head round bits or to go back and be like ‘ oh yeah they did’. Anyway.
Joe finds Delilah dead after a brillaint episode involving Forty relapsing and Joe getting dragged into it, being drugged all the while the timer is ticking. When she was alive Joe put delilah in timed cuffs. These cuffs would give him sufficient time to escape L.A and not be caught by the authorities that Delilah will be sure to call upon her release. However it doesnt come to be because shes dead. But by whom? Joe is shocked and lost as no one else knows about this place.
Shooting forward because I dont want to give everything away in this review/ sypnosis of this crammed season but the biggest twist in all of this is Love. Love is a dark horse and really is the ying to Joe’s yang. She is dangerous. At first i thought shell kill Joe and thatll be it for this amazing series but no. Its revealed she killed Delilah.. This for me was one of the biggest shocks this season as Delilah was a cool character and from what I have read/seen online a fan favourite. So how did Love do it well right up until the last moment we thought a drugged Joe did it. After the bender he ends up on with Forty. Joe retraces his steps and ends up at the storage facility to find a bloodied Delilah an before he can leave he is confronted and locked in by Candace. Love then ends up on the scene before slashing the neck of Candace and causing the revelation of the month to Joe revealing she really is just like him. Breathe…
The season ends with alot of the main cast dead or moving away which is no shocker after everything that went down. Shoutout to Forty whom despite everyone putting him down and labelling him as a drugged up idiot is the only person without being told by Joe himself to figure out the entire Joe Goldberg saga. Everything from Candace to Beck. The framing of Beck and Joes therapist and all the events to the present including the murder of the celebrity. Amazing. Will he live to tell the tale, no. he unfortunately winds up with a bullet in him from a Police Officer friend of Delilahs in the finale.
The season ends with a time skip a few months on with Joe and Love moving into their new home. Love is now heavily pregnant…You do find out earlier but I really am trying to not give all spoilers away for those who are reading to see if the show is worth their time. Anyway the final episode ends with Joe in his back garden being drawn to the fence peering through to see a woman reading a book. “Hello You!” Credits.
Brilliant end to the Season and already season 3 is confirmed which begs the question “Who is the woman Joe sees at the end?” Will Joe and Love be good parents. Is their relationship stable now both of thier lives are wide open to one another? Will this new woman come between them? Is it someone Joe already knows? Are there more revelations to come out like did Love kill her husband when he was terminally ill? Will Joe’s past catch up with him? What will he do with Ellie, which i didnt mention but in short Joe sends her money to keep quiet.
In summary Season 2 of ‘YOU’ is everything and more to the first season and is one of the best programmes I have watched for a long while. Season 3 needs to hurry up! What were your favourite bits? Are you a Love, Beck or Candace fan? What are your predictions for the upcoming season?

I have a fair bit to share in the coming weeks. I want to do some reviews that include spoilers (don’t worry a warning will be posted before you delve in). I also want to a few prediction posts for a few series, books and games I’ve recently enjoyed.
A review/prediction post for season 2 of the Witcher is a must as is a review of Netflix’s You Season 2 and predictions for season 3!
I am in the midst of writing a review for the Mandalorian. I’ve been lucky enough to watch the series despite Disney plus not being available here in the UK until end of March/ early April?
Either way the shows phenomenal and that’s just the tip of content I have in store for the blog.

Toss a coin for your Witcher! O’valley O’plenty! If your not singing away now or at least hearing Jaskier’s voice in your head you have either not watched this gem of a series or havent reached that part yet. I say that as The Witcher is like the plague, its contagious and once it has you in its grip, you are hooked!
Firstly though, if your new to this what is a Witcher? A Witcher is a being that has undergone mutations to enhance their senses, life force (Geralts heart beats about 4 times as slow as a normal humans). Theyare then trained in the art of the sword of similar weaponry for the task of being in short a monster slayer for hire. Sounds fun right? Witchers are also able to use a form of magic called signs. In this season we tend to see only a couple including mind control and a force push of sorts however if you have played the games theresa few more. Witchers are also pretty decent alchemists..
So season one. If youve read the Witcher books already then youll know roughly what to expect although there are minor differences. The first season of the show covers book one and some of book two. It may cover further but I myself am only on book 2 at this time. For those of you new to the Witcher universe. No problem, the way Netflix’s team of producers have gone about this is a mashup of stories in episodes that cover different times. Doing this you see the main storyline which introduces you not only to Geralt of Rivia/ the Witcher/ Main character but also Princess Cirilla/ Ciri who’s destinies are entwined which youll come to understand as you get further into the season. I dont want to spoil anything in this review so I wont go into detail to why their destinies cross except this. War, old traditions and promises that the world of men in the Witcher believe come into play to bring together these two.
Ciri (Freya Allen) and Geralt (Henry Cavill)
Aside from the main storyline you jump back in time as you come to realise the more you watch, to events that set the main storyline inmotion and introduce you to the world of the Witcher. You become acquainted to characters that ill be a big part such as Jaskier who if youve played the games or read the books is actually Dandelion the Bard. Another major character is Yenneffer of Vengerburg, the sorceress whom is Geralts love interest.
So the cast, which despite some people not being overly happy with have each performed brilliantly in my opinion.
Geralt is played by Henry Cavill (Man of Steel/ Justice League) who gives a solid performance as the Witcher promoting his personality of I am what I am, leave me be to get on with my work and I dont need companions I have roach!(his horse).
Joey Batey as Jaskier
Enter Jaskier the Bard. His plucky wit and loud, fun personality drive Geralt up the wall but in time he realises he does have a friend in him. Jaskier as a bard seeks to create the best ballads for people to sing of the great heroes in the Witchers world. Geralt already being famous to a degree for one being a Witcher and his signature white hair is a prime target for Jaskier to follow on adventures and monster slaying. The duo together work well and I hope it continues in Season 2.
Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerburg
One thing I was happy to see in this season was a bit of backstory on Yennefer the sorceress. Seeing how she comes to be what she is when Geralt finds her through a series of events in the series was a welcome addition to an already interesting series. As Geralts love interest in way, Witchers dont feel emotion so say. It was nice to that both Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra worked well on screen.
Looking forward The Witcher has been renewed for Season 2 and filming is about to begin with a releasewindow of 2021! Too far away in my book and hopefully upon reading this review youll give the show a chance and be in the same mindset as me. Its a really decent series in a fantasy genre that not all that often leaves you thirsty for more. The setting, the storyline, the characters and the lore of this show based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski is one of, if not the best show on Netflix at this time. It really is that good and is my best #HermitBinge to date.
I hope you’ll give it a chance and have enjoyed my breif overview on the surface of the Witcher’s universe. If youd like to see more of my reviews check out the rest of my blog and to keep upto date hit the follow button or subscribe!
This weekends #HermitBinge is the above now that season 2 is now out on #Netflix . If you are yet to check out this show. I highly recomend it. You follow Otis a typical Secondary school teenager, whos hormones are all over the shot. Along with his flamboyountly brilliant friend Eric, they go through school with a low social standing. Otis’ mum played by the awesome Gillian Anderson (X-Files/Hannibal) is a sex therapist to add even more fun to the mix.
Otis finds himself through a series of events offering sexual advice to his school unwillingly.
The series is full of hilarious twists and turns and now season 2 is here this will cover the majority of my weekend. Oh and one more thing for newcomers. Otis hates being touched by anyone including himself in a sexual way. A sexual advisor with a phobia to his own unwilling occupation..
I go through phases with Netflix where I subscribe then walk away to come back when something catches my eye. This time it was the Witcher. Yes nothing to do with the title but hear me out. I binged said programme then thought thats it for me and felt abit lost. So imagine my surprise when I tried the series ‘You’ out from a recommendation off my girlfriend.
I wasn’t sure at first if it’d be my thing. She mentioned it was similar to ‘Dirty John’ which ok was good, but not spectacular. That however is another review for another time.
So You. Where to begin, I started with an open mind and I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. There were times it was quite mushy and lovey dovey but then something would happen and bang it kept my interest alive with newfound vigour.
The main character is Joe (Penn Badgley) who is a book store clerk musing to himself as he goes about his day when the fascinating Guinevere Beck or Beck as she prefers (Elizabeth Lail) comes onto his radar.
Immediately Joe is fascinated. He breaks her down in his head watching her through the bookstore analysing her movement, her attire, everything. They talk, they flirt and the result is a infatuation that Joe’s never going to forget..An neither is Beck.
Beck-Elizabeth Lail
The first episode alone is crammed with tonnes and I mean tonnes of twists and niggles to set up the feeling of the series and what to expect from the main cast throughout and although the pilot is this extensive. It never feels like too much which again surprised me.
Onward, so now Joe has Beck in his sites. He begins stalking, finding her schedule, her social media, her friendship groups. He’s making plans in his mind about their futures. To Beck at this point Joe was the cute bookshop clerk who impressed her by having good book taste.
Through certain events Joe weasles is way into Beck’s life and begins to lay foundations of careful elimination. One, Beck’s boyfriend or friend with benefits. I am not sure which to call them as it never seemed a stable relationship anyway. To avoid spoilers in this review I won’t ruin how or what Joe does.
Further into the season we see more of both Beck and Joe’s background story, not extensively but enough to tie in what’s happening now and how it could act as either a motivator or an incentive to the behaviour being shown now.
Personally despite Joe being what he is this creepy, stalking head over heels lovesick puppy. I liked him. Thought the character was decent and his charade was performed brilliantly.
The other characters in the series all tie in well. There’s innocent characters you love to hate (peach) and characters your happy with how they end up (Paco).
Now I’m probably going to get backlash for this but I wasn’t a fan of Beck. Episode 2 or 3 onwards my view of her became much different to this woman who is obviously looking for mr right and struggling massively with her life, career and friendships. I just didn’t understand some of her choices she made. She came across as low and depressed. Like going back to her ex after catching him cheating and not wanting to be around him etc. Then in the next scene she’s this happy go lucky person with Joe and then goes and does certain things. Sleeps about. I mean why mess with something that obviously works for you. I know it’s a show but you do get swept in.
The finale of the season is filled with punches, revelations and one hell of an ending for this thriller induced love story. I enjoyed season one, for the most part I liked the characters bar what I’ve mentioned about above. If you haven’t checked ‘You’ out yet on Netflix I highly recommend you put some time aside this weekend and hermit binge this all weekend.
Keep an eye out for my review of You Season 2. I’m researching one more time before I write it up. Stay tuned.
I am on a bit of a Witcher craze at the moment. Not only has the series been released now on Netflix (another post I plan to review). I am also playing the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt on Playstation 4 again aswell.
So what was left for me to get my Witcher fix once I had binged the series twice? The books! An boy was I rewarded. Book one is the Last Wish in the world famous series by Andrzej Sapkowski and is a mixture of short stories about Geralt of Rivia. The book does tie in with the first season for the most part with some minor differences. I wont go into these as for those of you whom are yet to watch the series and I dont want to dish out spoilers.
So Geralt, the white wolf, the witcher. If your new to the world then welcome. A Witcher is a being that is part human, part mutant. They undergo mutations as children and are then trained for the purpose of monster slaying. They age slower than normal people. I read that Geralts heart is four times slower than a humans so I will assume all witchers age the same. Anyway Geralt, white hair, wearing dark armour and weilding two swords. One of iron for Humans and one of silver for monsters. A Witchers senses are heightened to a greater level than that of a human.
Witchers can also use a form of magic known as signs. From what I have read and played/ seen thus far they can use signs to manipulate minds, hurl force at things/ objects and create shields. They are also alchemists and are good at making various kinds of elixers to aid them in battle.
On paper he is as good if not better than in the series. Nothing against Henry Cavill, he is Geralt hands down but I always find charatcers in books have more depth in them and time to get more backstory and detail to their exploits in. Just a personal opinion.
So the Last Wish is brilliant, you jump between the present day and the past as Geralt and Dandelion aka Jaskier in the series recount tales of Geralts exploits. Some of which you will recall from the series with slight differences. Its well written and never feels rushed which is nice.
The characters feel authentic and are bursting with personality. The withdrawn, fearless nomad that is Geralt of Rivia. The excitable, loud bard that is Dandelion (Jaskier) and the mysterious, powerful witch that is Yenefer of Vergerburg. The races, the monsters, the places involved in this book in the world of the Witcher are incredible. I havent been this into a series since I read Patrick Rothfuss’ Kingkiller Chronicles. I highly recommend picking up a copy if you can to fill the void before Witcher season 2 arrives in 2021.
A solid read and has left me wanting more. 9 out of 10.
I will be continueing onto book 2 The Sword of Destiny in the Witcher saga. More on that, when I am done!
